Once upon a time, there were three bears who lived in a cozy house in the middle of a great forest. There was a Great Big Father Bear, a Middle-sized Mother Bear, and a Little Wee Baby Bear. One morning, their porridge was too hot to eat, so they decided to go for a walk in the woods while it cooled.
Shortly after they left, a mischievous little girl named Goldilocks wandered near their house. She looked in the window, peeped through the keyhole, and seeing nobody inside, she lifted the latch and walked right in.
On the kitchen table, she found the three bowls of porridge. She tasted the largest bowl, belonging to Father Bear, but it was too hot. She tasted the middle-sized bowl, belonging to Mother Bear, but it was too cold. Finally, she tasted the smallest bowl, belonging to Baby Bear. "This is just right!" she said, and ate it all up.
Goldilocks then sat in the chairs. Father Bear's chair was too hard. Mother Bear's chair was too soft. Baby Bear's chair was just right, but as she rocked back and forth, the bottom of the chair broke, and down she came onto the floor!
Feeling tired, she went upstairs to the bedroom. She tried the first two beds, but they weren't right either. She lay down on Baby Bear's bed, which was perfectly comfortable, and fell fast asleep.
While she was sleeping, the three bears returned home from their walk. They immediately noticed things were out of place. "Someone has been eating my porridge!" growled Father Bear. "Someone has been sitting in my chair, and has broken it!" cried Baby Bear.
They rushed upstairs. Father Bear growled, "Someone has been sleeping in my bed!" Then Baby Bear looked at his bed and squeaked, "Someone has been sleeping in my bed, and here she is!"
Just then, Goldilocks woke up. Seeing the three angry bears staring down at her, she screamed in fright. She leaped out of the bed, ran down the stairs, and dashed out the door into the forest as fast as her legs could carry her, never to return again.
